Martin County School District
Hobe Sound Elementary Wins Best School Design Award

The new Hobe Sound Elementary School is celebrating a special honor. It has received the Architectural Showcase’s top prize for elementary school design in Florida. The annual award was sponsored by the Florida Educational Facilities Planners’ Association and was presented on January 26th, during the Association’s conference in Amelia Island, Florida.

The architectural firm, Song + Associates, created the design for Hobe Sound Elementary and worked with School District officials and Facilities’ staff, the school’s principal, and school employees to ensure the new replacement school would not only meet all of the students’ educational needs, but also maintain the original campus’ certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program.

The design of Hobe Sound Elementary competed against entries from other architectural firms across the state and was judged on a variety of criteria, including its site development, innovative response to educational programs, flexibility for community use, and barrier free accessibility.

The new Hobe Sound Elementary replacement school was built on the existing school’s campus and opened for students in August 2005.

For more information on this prestigious award, contact Beverly Sears, Song + Associates at 561-655-2423, extension 118.
