- Did you know we do not fry any of our foods?
By not using fryers in our kitchens, we can minimize the fat content in our foods. Our hamburgers, chicken nuggets and French fries are all oven baked in our specialty ovens to the peak of perfection. |
- Did you know a registered dietitian prepares the school menus?
Breakfast and lunch menus are planned by a registered dietitian to ensure RDA’s (Recommended Dietary Allowances) for protein, iron, calcium, vitamin A and C are met. Breakfast provides at least 1/4 of the RDA’s and at least 1/3 for lunch. |
- Did you know the Food Service Department follows the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and offers whole grains in our menus?
The Dietary Guidelines suggest that half of our grains should come from whole grains. Our department has made it a priority to offer a variety of whole grain products in our daily menus to promote healthy eating habits. |
- Did you know we offer at least 3 different fruit/vegetable servings each and every day at lunch?
| It is recommended that children and adults consume 5-9 servings of fruits & veggies each day. Fruits and vegetables contain fiber, phytochemicals and antioxidants that have been shown to prevent cancer. By offering a variety of nutritious fruits and vegetables, we are encouraging our students to make healthy choices. |
